Project Fair & Balanced (PFB) is a conservative, non-partisan group, which promotes transparency, accountability and integrity in government, politics and the law. Through its educational endeavors, Project Fair & Balanced  advocates high standards of ethics and morality in our local public life and seeks to ensure that political and judicial officials do not abuse the powers entrusted to them by the American people. PFB fulfills its educational mission through litigation, investigations, and public outreach.

The motto of PFB is “Because no one is above the law”. To this end, PFB uses the open records or freedom of information laws and other tools to investigate and uncover misconduct by government officials and litigation to hold to account politicians and public officials who engage in corrupt activities.
 

Incarceration for VOP (Violation of Probation) or FTA(Failure to Appear) or Error in Charges leave us desperate, confused and often helpless

Project Fair & Balanced investigation found hundreds of cases where defedant stayed in county jail without any court date or waiting on a courtdate in some cases more than 10 months.; that is unexceptable.  FTA or VOP hearing should not take more than 7-30 days and in cases if you do not have private attorney the time frame can be as far as 3 months.  Also in lot cases PFB found that while public defenders are taking leave of absence or vacationand no one is filling their slot, as a result it creating a bottle neck and no body is being held responsible.

Nobody is paying attention to the conditions in county jail: in some case it is obvious that it is financial gain for the county to house inmates as long as possible. 

Yes, housing inmates has become a substantial business in the United States, particularly with the rise of private prisons. This industry generates billions of dollars in revenue annually, with private companies contracting with the government to manage prisons and detention centers. This trend has raised ethical concerns about the potential for prioritizing profits over prisoner welfare and public safety.

Exploited Elders and Mentally handicap or challanged person

Local system for protecting older adults from financial exploitation leaves them more vulnerable to harm and isolation. Victims often end up as wards of the County Public Guardian, whose office takes control of their finances and care in probate court.

Work load and efficiencies of Public Defenders that courts employ and so many people depend on them but who is overseeing them?

Public defenders often face heavy workloads, impacting their efficiency and potentially their ability to provide optimal representation. While they are dedicated professionals, the sheer number of cases they handle can lead to challenges in dedicating sufficient time and resources to each client. 

High caseloads can lead to a "triage" approach, where public defenders prioritize cases based on severity or other factors, potentially resulting in less attention to some cases according to the National Association for Public Defense. Public defenders typically handle a significantly larger number of cases compared to their private counsel counterparts. The high volume of cases means less time can be spent on each individual case, potentially affecting thorough investigation and preparation, according to the National Association for Public Defense. The demanding nature of the job, combined with high caseloads, can contribute to stress and burnout among public defenders.
